Our Take

Which one is actually right for you?

Best for
DJI Mini 4 Pro
If you want to skip FAA registration entirely, the Mini 4 Pro is your drone. At 249g it sits just under the threshold — fly in parks, travel internationally, and launch from anywhere without paperwork. The 4K footage is genuinely impressive for its size, and the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance makes it very forgiving to fly. The tradeoff is one camera and shorter flight time. For pure beginner simplicity, nothing beats it.

From $759
Best for
DJI Air 3
The Air 3 is what most people should buy. The dual-camera system gives you creative flexibility no single-lens drone can match — wide for landscapes, 3× zoom for compression and subject isolation. The 46-minute flight time is unmatched at this price. Yes, you need FAA registration, but that takes five minutes and costs $5. For the vast majority of hobbyists, travel photographers, and aspiring filmmakers, this is the right call.

Best for
Mavic 3 Pro
The Mavic 3 Pro is for people who know exactly why they need it. Three Hasselblad cameras, 5.1K resolution, D-Log M and Apple Log colour profiles — this is a professional filmmaking tool in a foldable package. If you're shooting for clients, producing content that lives on large screens, or simply refuse to compromise on image quality, the extra $1,100 over the Air 3 is absolutely justified. Don't buy it because it costs more. Buy it because you need it.
