Best for
From $759
If you want to skip FAA registration entirely, the Mini 4 Pro is your drone. At 249g it sits just under the threshold — fly in parks, travel internationally, and launch anywhere without paperwork. The 4K footage is genuinely excellent for its size. Tradeoff: one camera, 34-minute flight time, Level 5 wind resistance.
Best non-DJI
From ~$849
The strongest non-DJI camera drone in this price range. Its 1-inch sensor shoots 6K with a variable f/2.8–f/11 aperture, and there's no DJI geofencing — if FlySafe has ever locked you out of a location where you had legal clearance, the Autel simply flies where the FAA says you can. The real tradeoff: obstacle detection is 3-directional and brakes to hover rather than auto-routing around objects like APAS. For confident pilots, manageable. For true beginners, it demands more situational awareness than DJI drones do.
Best overall
From $1,099
The drone most people should buy. Dual cameras (wide + 3× zoom), 46-minute flight time, APAS 5.0 omnidirectional avoidance, Level 7 wind resistance. FAA registration is required at 720g but costs $5 and takes five minutes. For the vast majority of hobbyists, travel photographers, and aspiring filmmakers, this is the right call.
Best for pros
From $2,199
For people who know exactly why they need it. Three Hasselblad cameras, 5.1K, D-Log M and Apple Log. A professional filmmaking tool in a foldable package. Don't buy it because it costs more — buy it because you need the image quality and three-camera coverage for client work or large-screen content.
Confirm current specs, pricing, availability, and legal requirements with the retailer, manufacturer, and official FAA sources before buying.
